Mountain Valley Spring Water began in 1871. With Hot Springs, Arkansas, the home of Mountain Valley, being a popular health resort, many people from all parts of the world would travel there and enjoy the waters.
On a train trip from Hot Springs to New York, two men, who did not know each other, both produced a bottle of Mountain Valley Spring Water to enjoy while traveling. They began discussing their mutual desire to have Mountain Valley Spring Water available in New York. Upon exchanging business cards, media mogul, William Randolph Hearst discovered that his new partner was the well known gambler, Richard Canfield, a man against whom his newspapers were conducting a fierce campaign. Thus began the Mountain Valley Water Company of New York. |

In 1938 the company was purchased by John G. Scott, an advertising executive, who also was first a customer of Mountain Valley. He guided the company for many years while continuing his advertising career. In the late '40s, he decided to dedicate all of his efforts towards Mountain Valley Water
In 1963, Health Waters, Inc. was formed as an importing company to bring in many of the wonderful waters from around the world. The popularity of bottled water was growing and people were becoming more aware of the waters from many countries, especially those in Europe. Health Waters, Inc was instrumental in bringing many products to New York, including many that are very popular today such as Evian, Perrier and San Pellegrino. In 1966 Mr. Scott led a group of distributors in purchasing the national company, Mountain Valley Spring Company and he took over that company as President while continuing to operate the New York distributorship.
In the late 1980's Mountain Valley Water Company was combined with the Health Waters, Inc. During the course of several years in the 1990's Stuart Scott became the owner of Health Waters, Inc.
Today, Health Waters, Inc is much like it was years ago. Our primary product remains to be Mountain Valley Spring Water with thousands of home and office customers throughout New York metropolitan area. |
